Congratulations to newly capped Dr. Amber K. Weiner and Dr. Apexa Modi!

Amber successfully defended her dissertation work titled Advancing immunotherapy through proteogenomics: Identification of DLK1 as a target in neuroblastoma. on April 2, 2021. Having started at CHOP in 2014, she is remaining here and will continue to be co-mentored by Drs. Diskin and Maris,  but transitioning her physical workspace upstairs to the 9th floor of CTRB, in Dr. Maris’ group space. Congratulations, Dr. Weiner! Great work!

Apexa followed shortly thereafter with her public talk for her defense, titled Characterizing the gene networks associated with non-coding elements in pediatric cancer using integrative genomics on June 10, 2021.  This wraps up years’ of work for Apexa since starting at UPenn in 2015. She’ll be moving forward to a position with AbbVie Pharmaceuticals as a bioinformatics scientist, as well as celebrating her pandemic-postponed wedding in July. Congratulations, Dr. Modi! We’re so proud of you!
