Apexa is a 5th year PhD Candidate in the Genomics and Computational Biology (GCB) program at UPenn. She studies the expression of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in childhood cancers and chromatin architecture in neuroblastoma. She is using an integrated experimental and computational approach to investigate the function of lncRNAs and the extent to which they contribute to neuroblastoma susceptibility, progression, and relapse. Additionally, in order to better understand the impact of genetic variation in NBL susceptibility loci, she and Karina are working to delineate the chromatin interactions in NBL cell lines at these loci, using chromosome conformation capture. In her free time, Apexa enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and painting.
